Would you like to let the world know how human rights have impacted your life? If so, you can become a guest contributor to the LEAF Youth Commission blog. We want to hear your thoughts on social justice in Canada, women’s equality, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, reproductive rights, poverty or any other human rights issue.
Create a blog post, video, poem, photo or other artistic work that depicts what human rights means to you. You can also complete one of the following statements:

“As a human being, I deserve…
“In 25 years, some changes I expect to see are…
What are some of the issues surrounding social justice and equality in your community?
You can complete a project on your own, with friends or with members of your youth organization. Simply email your submission to speakers@leaf.ca.
Your work may also be included in our Youth Perspectives on Social Justice video. The video will be made available to the public through our website, YouTube and an open screening.
We encourage submissions in both English and French.
The views expressed on this blog those of the participants and are not those of LEAF.
LEAF reserves the right to monitor the blog and to post or remove all or part of any submission at LEAF’s discretion.
All postings in any form may be used by LEAF in the documentation and presentation of the Youth Commission including in newsletters, projects, educational resources, internal and external publicity including internet websites/blogs.

This is a campaign I absolutely love. This visual music project was created by the “We Love Music Too Campaign” in 2009 which aimed to raise awareness about (in)accessibility to music and technology for deaf communities. (Yes, deaf people love music too.) Are we inclusive of deaf people/communities and deaf issues into our equity and advocacy work?

Remember Rodney King? This past week was the 18th anniversary of one of the largest uprisings in modern US history- the Los Angeles riots
sparked by the acquittal of four white police officers who beat Rodney King. This past week, Junior Manon was beaten to death by police
officers on York University’s campus.
